Please Note:

By the end of May 2006 I'll be taking this page off line and replacing it with a web site dedicated to the stories and tales of BRC-DPW past. Get your stories ready and help tell our tale!

The information on this web site will be available in the future at

Thank you all for your contributions and interest over the years.

Black Rock City
Department of Public Works

The Department of Public Works builds the physical infrastructure of Black Rock City, the temporary community of the Burning Man event. Throughout the year, DPW staff and participants work with the Burning Man community, Nevada residents, a variety of contractors and public agencies to ensure that the Black Rock Desert site is ready for the event, and that the desert is left with no trace of our city after the event.

Participants

DPW needs participants during July, August and September. Our core staff have at least a year or two of prior DPW experience and are recruited early in the year. Key people with critical skills may be recruited closer to the event. A commitment of at least two weeks before or after Burning Man is desirable. Contact our participant coordinator if you have any questions.

Available only a short period before, during, or after the event? Recycling, Art, Rangers, Greeters and many other groups need people with hands-on skills to help build and run their on-the-playa installations. Check out the main participant page.
